Thousands of Seventh-day Adventist leaders, pastors, and laypersons throughout Central America and the Dominican Republic will celebrate the end of intense evangelism efforts in churches and small groups this month, welcoming thousands of new believers.

The multi-country-wide regional evangelistic campaign themed “No Te Rindas, Aún Hay Esperanza” (Don’t Give Up, There is Still Hope), will gather large and small crowds in auditoriums, churches and small groups, starting on Mar. 25, 2022, in the Dominican Republic. Then campaign will continue in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and will culminate in Guatemala on April 9.

Pastor Melchor Ferreyra, personal ministries director for the church in Inter-America, will be the keynote speaker during the two-week evening series carried online on Hope Channel Inter-America’s YouTube and Facebook accounts.

“This evangelistic series comes on the heels of hundreds of comprehensive efforts on the ground by bible instructors, small group leaders, church elders and pastors who have been discipling new believers into accepting Jesus as their personal Savior,” said Ferreyra. “Our leaders are excited to embrace and celebrate together with those who are choosing to follow Jesus in their lives.”

The messages each evening will point to God’s promises in everyday life issues, said Ferreyra.

At the start of the series in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, local leaders are expected to baptize nearly 1,000 people as the series launches this weekend.

Church leaders across Central America are expected to add more than 6,000 new members by the end of the series.

“There’s a lot of energy being put into the evangelistic efforts for this year, especially as we are celebrating the 100th anniversary since the Inter-American Division (IAD) was organized,” said Pastor Balvin Braham, vice president overseeing evangelism for the church in Inter-America.

“We are not just doing this to baptize individuals, we are doing this because it’s at the heart of the mission—to reach others with the gospel.”

After 100 years of living out the mission, it’s about deepening what has been done successfully in the territory and include new strategies, new ways of “moving forward together to fulfill the mission we are commissioned to do,” explained Braham.

The series is the second of five regional campaigns this year across Inter-America that is “helping galvanize and mobilize leaderships throughout unions, fields and local churches, to continue to evangelize, bring souls and to nurture them for the kingdom,” said Braham.  The first regional evangelism campaign was held last month for the English-speaking territory of Inter-America and resulted in over 4,200 baptisms.

With the kind of evangelism momentum across Inter-America, leaders are anticipating that this year will involve a greater number of laypersons and pastors in unified efforts to reach more people than ever before, Braham said.
