On Sabbath, April 24, 2021, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will celebrate the special gifts of thousands of its members and their families who have special needs. The event, which is called Possibility Ministries Day, is also being observed around the world church, and is intended to give greater visibility to persons with possibilities, church organizers said.

“This is a joyous festival dedicated to empower, affirm and assist persons with disabilities to use their natural abilities, acquired skills and spiritual gifts to give glory to God,” said Pastor Samuel Telemaque, possibility ministries director for the church in Inter-America.

Themed “In Jesus, All Are Gifted and All Are Accepted,” the morning worship will feature seven unique groups of individuals, including the deaf, blind, physically immobile, those who have mental health issues, orphans, those mourning the loss of a spouse, and caregivers, as well as those who live and work with them.

Senator of Jamaica Dr. Floyd Morris will be the keynote speaker for the morning worship service. Mrs. Juliana Santos of Adventist Possibility Ministries at the General Conference will be a keynote speaker during the afternoon program.

Inter-American Division (IAD) leaders will also take part in the program to address possibility ministries leaders and hundreds of individuals who will take part in singing, and drama performances, and connect during the online festival of possibilities.

The program will feature sign language interpreters from 18 countries for the hearing impaired. “They will be able to get on the zoom platform to view their corresponding interpreter from each country identified with the flag,” said Pastor Telemaque. The rest of the online audience will be able to view the program in English, Spanish and French.

The day’s program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and continue from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Miami Time.

The event will also feature training for leaders on adapting teaching for persons with special needs, a presentation of each of the unions’ task force leadership team overseeing possibility ministries in their region, as well as highlights and initiatives taking place across the territory, and more.
