AdventHealth President/CEO Terry Shaw has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in health care by Modern Healthcare. This recognition acknowledges and honors individuals deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential individuals in the industry in terms of leadership and impact.

This marks Shaw’s second consecutive appearance on the list, coming in at no. 52 and up from no. 84 in 2019. In a year when COVID-19 has affected everyone’s lives and commanded the time, energy, and resources of health-care workers, public health experts, government officials, and business leaders, Modern Healthcare noted Shaw’s proactive leadership in AdventHealth’s pandemic response. This includes establishing a systemwide command center, solidifying the supply of personal protective equipment, and working to ensure that team members would continue to have opportunities within the organization through its redeployment program.

“Terry’s tremendous leadership has been the catalyst for the advancement of our sacred mission as well as the elevation of the organization’s national profile,” Ron C. Smith, AdventHealth’s Board chair, said. “This recognition is not only a byproduct of his influence on a broader scale, but it’s also a reflection of his commitment to the patients we serve and the team members who look to him for leadership. I couldn’t be happier for Terry and the organization as a whole.”

The 2020 edition of Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People features influencers representing a range of sectors such as government, health care, and technology. The list of honorees also includes recognizable figures like Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and President Donald Trump.

The complete ranking is a central feature in the December 7, 2020 issue of Modern Healthcare.
