Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico…[Linette Antonio/IAD Staff]

The first generation of clinical psychology students graduated June 1 from the Adventist institution Montemorelos University in Montemorelos, Mexico.

The clinical psychology program grew out of an increasing interest by students in this area of study, said Juliaemy de Flores, who teaches in the program. The interest grew to include a study of several Adventists schools to seek out the professional interests of young people.

Five years after the clinical psychology program was initiated and established , several projects are running on and off campus. There is now a special counseling telephone line, and an agreement was made with the State of Nuevo Leon for support counseling centers, as well as three special labs.

So far there are 59 students enrolled in the four-year clinical psychology program at Montemorelos University.
