The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Haiti was recognized for its outstanding growth during the year 2007. The announcement came as the Inter-American Division's territory-wide satellite Pentecost and More event aired Saturday, Mar. 15, 2008, from Kingston, Jamaica.

“We are so grateful that the Lord has been using pastors, administrators, laymen, and young people to carry the gospel as we look forward to the finishing of the preaching and the coming God and Savior,” said Pastor Balvin Braham, associate ministerial secretary in charge of Evangelism in Inter-America.

“The Haitian union in 2007 baptized 12,507 persons, a 15 percent increase over 2006,” he continued. “They qualify today to receive the prestigious Inter-American Division Evangelistic Trophy.”

Pastor Theart St. Pierre, president of the church in Haiti, thanked his team of pastors and laypeople who have labored to share the gospel as he was handed the trophy in Port-au-Prince.

“I thank the Inter-American Division for this trophy that is a token of appreciation for the efforts realized by all people in the country,” said Pastor Saint Pierre. “I receive this trophy in the name of all the members who are committed to preaching the gospel and continue to preach until Jesus Christ comes,” he added.

The church in Haiti is the second largest of the 15 major regions in Inter-America.

Established in 1905, the church in Haiti has more than 315,000 Seventh-day Adventists worshiping in 441 churches and congregations. In addition, it operates a university, hospital, radio station and 235 elementary and secondary schools.
