Miami, Florida, United States…[Libna Stevens/IAD]

Church leaders from throughout the Inter-American Division began their Mid-Year Executive Committee Meetings earlier today at its headquarter office in Miami, Florida. The meetings brought more than 70 church leaders together to review, study and implement new plans to advance the work of the church in a territory boasting more than 2.5 million members.

The meetings began with worship by the renowned evangelist Mark Finley. Pastor Finley encouraged the assembly to press on to fulfill their responsibilities, as God has promised to give all power to us as found in Matthew 28:18-20.

“The work of God is not going to be finished until it’s finished in your house, village, town, city, country…until everyone has the opportunity to hear the gospel,” said Pastor Finley.

“In the midst of your challenges in your conferences or unions, the power of the living God is there…through every circumstance of life, in trials, and sorrow, He [God] is there,” he added.

The official opening of the meetings continued with the reading of the mission statement and an intercessory prayer session held by Pastor Matthew A. Bediako, World Church executive secretary, who prayed for church employees with specific needs and for certain territories facing difficult challenges. The session continued with progress reports on the plans implemented throughout the 2000-2005 year period by the departmental directors of the headquarter office. Union territory reports will follow during the afternoon session.

The meetings are scheduled to continue throughout the week until May 19th.
